Frigidly Cold: Cryogenic Stability
Many of our Teflon® coatings are able to withstand sustained sub-freezing temperatures without any loss of physical properties. Additionally, Teflon®’s impact resistance at extremely low temperatures exceeds that of most other polymers. Teflon® coatings may be used at temperatures as low as -270°C (-454°F).
Applications:
- Because Teflon® coatings can so effectively withstand low temperatures, they are often applied to valves, pump linings, pipe liners, and other components used for transporting or storing cryogenic materials.
- Teflon®’s extreme low temperature resistance makes it an ideal coating material for aerospace applications, where components may encounter low temperatures in Earth’s upper atmosphere or in space.
