Graphite is used as an additive in formulations of fluoropolymers (as well as in other resin binders) to impart electrical conductivity to otherwise non-conductive coatings.
This can be useful in applications where static dissipation or conductivity is desired while maintaining the basic properties of the base polymer or resin.
Graphite can also enhance the hardness and durability of otherwise soft coatings that are susceptible to wear issues.
Key Characteristics of Graphite:
- Tough, Durable
- Imparts electrical conductivity
- Thermally stable
