Precision Coating to attend MD&M West
February 01, 2007
A few lucky visitors to the Precision Coating booth at the MD&M West trade show in February will walk away with a brand new Canon Powershot digital camera. The choice of promotional items is a perfectly logical one for the Dedham, MA company, which is embarking on a new campaign to enhance it's image in the medical device industry.
With 50 years of coating expertise and a portfolio of 2500+ medical products to its credit, the company is far from unknown to manufacturers of medical guide wires, core wires, ground wires, mandrels, hypo tubing and other devices that require a fluoropolymer coating. The change comes from the company's new owners, who hope to move the company from it's current "best kept secret" status to a new profile as the best known name in medical PTFE coatings.
"There are a lot of new things going on at Precision Coating, and we think customers will benefit from sharing our excitement about it," said president Bob DeAngelis, part of the team staffing booth #758 at the February 13-15th show in the Anaheim Convention Center. "This is the first time we've been represented at a show in years, which is surprising for one of the largest plastic coating applicators in the world. We want to let everyone know that we're definitely not business as usual."
The new look of the MD&M booth is an instant indication of things to come. Sporting a brand new logo and an energetic design, the Precision Coating display's unveiling is timed to dovetail with the debut of a completely revamped web site at www.precisioncoating.com. The updated image is an outgrowth of an ownership change at the company, which was purchased by Massachusetts-based Alacrity Material Technology, LLC and Seacoast Capital in March of 2006.
The renewed image is backed by substantive investment in the company. On display at MD&M will be results of newly-completed friction property studies on the firm's proprietary PTFE coating systems. The studies reveal a significant difference in the lubricity performance of Precision Coating's solutions, without sacrificing adhesion quality. "We have always believed that we offer the highest lubricity performance in the industry," DeAngelis noted, "and we will be able to show our customers the scientific evidence to support that belief."
Visitors will be encouraged to follow the substance with a bit of fun, in the form of a daily business card drawing for Canon cameras. "Since the convention is next door to Disneyland, we thought people would like to capture a few memories," said DeAngelis. "We're hoping to be part of making MD&M a very memorable event."
