Teflon® Medical Device Coatings

Precision Coating offers a variety of medical device coatings, including:

Medical Device Coatings Blue (PC 8-403BL)

Core Teflon® Wire Medical Device Coatings

Medical device Teflon® wire coatings are predominately stainless steel. They demand a low friction coating, good adhesion and controlled tolerances of the coating. Substrates can vary from a single non-ground to a multi-diameter ground wire that requires extensive masking.

There are no limits to the incoming wire diameter that we can Teflon® coat.

Our proprietary high quality innovative low friction PTFE green 8-403P coating is extensively used on core wires. In addition, we offer other PTFE systems and Teflon®.

Benefits of our core wire Teflon® coating services include:

  • Multiple color options. The most common color is green, but black, blue, gray, brown and un-pigmented are available.
  • Expert engineering assistance. As a complementary service, our engineering department is always on-hand to help you specify before and after coating specifications and tolerances.

Hypotubes Wire Medical Device Coatings

There is no limit to the hypotube outside diameters that we can Teflon® coat. Length varies from 2 cm up to 300 cm.

Benefits of our hypotube coating services include:

  • Low friction coating. Hypotubes are coated in black, blue or green PTFE coatings for low friction. We even offer some low-cure versions that do not oxide the outer-diameter (OD) or inner-diameter (ID), eliminating the need for post-tarnish removal.
  • Selective area coating. Selective coating of areas or masking of non-coated marker band surfaces is within our capability.

Forming Mandrels

The Mandrels that we can coat are limitless. Typically, mandrels can be made from stainless steel or nitinol, which may be straight, or of multi-shaped configurations. We can also coat multi-diameter mandrels with masking of any designated surface.

Benefits of our Forming mandrels coating services include:

  • Low-friction coating. We apply coatings that offer release and low friction.
  • Variety of coatings to choose from. The coatings range from PC 8-403P, PTFE, Teflon®, Teflon® S and FEP along with PFA.
